Maya Kearl
Maya Kearl has loved design from a young age. Growing up on the British Columbia coast, along with a mix of the Alberta prairies, taking inspiration from both. Completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, BC), she discovered an interest in linocut printing, creating bold imagery and developing her own style. Kearl is also interested in sculpture and 3D art, specifically creating large-scale sculptures with an edge of unsettling and unusual aesthetics. Technology also plays an important role in her life, and she finds ways to create art with tech and keep up with advances in the industry, using her creative and sculptural knowledge to create useful designs. Kearl also does AutoCAD work on the side, designing drawings and layouts. This is where interest in industrial design began, and where the idea of blending sculpture and classic linocut originated, driving Kearl to pursue product design at KPU Wilson School of Design in the fall of 2026. All paired with photography to document raw moments and experiences.
“The most important thing when I create or capture a moment is to show the raw feeling I experienced. I think it’s just as important to create an aesthetic and feeling than just technical skill”.
